Michael is the managing member of Fopiano & Sullivan, LLC. Over the years Michael has assisted his clients with their accounting, tax and business advisory needs.

Michael has develop an expertise in a diverse number of industry segments, whether in the healthcare industry providing financial and operational consultation to medical groups on such aspects as compensation formulas, revenue enhancement or cost saving strategies or working with closely held companies in a variety of industries from their infant stage through a sale or generational transfer of their business. Most recently with capital gains rates at an all-time low Michael has been very active in assisting his clients with the sale of their businesses including structuring the transaction in the most tax efficient manner, assisting with the necessary due diligence phase and through the documentary stage.

As Ben Franklin said, “In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.” Therefore, Michael spends a great deal of his efforts trying to help clients legitimately reduce income and estate taxes while representing clients before the Internal Revenue Service and State tax authorities.

Michael’s background includes working for and training with a national accounting firm, Laventhol & Horwath in Boston Massachusetts through senior manager through 1990. He subsequently joined the predecessor firm of Fopiano & Sullivan, LLC where he became a partner in 1997 and has been a partner since that time.

Michael graduated from Assumption College in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts degree concentration in accounting and went on to obtain his Masters in Taxation at Bentley College, graduating in 1990. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA), past member of the Physicians and Dentists Health Group sponsored by the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants and a member of Medical Group Management Association (MGMA). Michael has lived in Marshfield Massachusetts since 1992 is married and has raised three children. His hobbies have included coaching his three sons in their various sports and most recently he enjoys Scuba Diving and Jet Skiing.
